GIGvaganza: Promoting cooperation between higher education institution and local communities
6 April 2017 – Some 300 delegates from 12 ECER selected schools from the district of Bera had joined the one day event held at Dewan Rakan Muda, Bera. The event was graced by YB Dato’ Norol Azali Sulaiman, Guai Assemblyman/Chairman of Health, Human Resources and Special Tasks Committee for the state of Pahang and Dr. Hafizoah Kassim, Deputy Dean of Research and Postgraduate Studies of Centre for Modern Languages and Human Sciences (CMLHS).
In his speech, YB Dato’ Norol Azali Sulaiman emphasised that “educators should equip themselves with adequate knowledge and skills to change their approach in line with the current global trend, especially in the field of language teaching and learning methods.” He further added that “GIGvaganza has successfully fulfilled its purpose in paving the way for students’ language development as well as nurturing a positive English learning ambience”. He also mentioned that programme such as GIGvaganza “promotes cooperation between higher education institution and local communities”.
The Guai assemblyman ended his speech by thanking the teachers, and students from the ECER selected schools as well as the committee members and facilitators of Gigvaganza Empower ECER Bera 2017, who have contributed remarkable amounts of time and effort in ensuring the success of the event. The committee and facilitators of Gigvaganza Emppower ECER Bera 2017 hoped that the students have benefitted from the chance of experiencing the English language in the most fun way possible!
