Reading Circle Program (RCP) Series 5: The journey of life starts with the turning of a page
Astaka, UMP - Reading Circle Program or also known as (RCP) has once again held successfully on 4th July 2017 in Gambang Campus which also marked its 5th series since 2014.
The event was officiated by the Deputy Dean of Research and Innovation, Dr. Zuraina bt. Ali, and was also graced with the presence of Head of English Language Department; Dr. Noor Raha bt Mohd Radzuan, Senior Deputy Chief Librarian; Mr Dzull Zabarod Ahmad and Dr. Norrihan Sulan; Advisor of Reading Circle Program.
Reading Circle Program is initiated by the Department of English Language, Centre for Modern Languages and Human Sciences (CMLHS) and assisted by UMP Library, with one of its main aims is to foster lifelong learning among university students by providing the students with the opportunities to get involved in knowledge enhancement activities such as the reading circle. The success of the annually held programme since its 1st series has led RCP to be elevated as University’s English Language Signature Program, acknowledged by the Ministry of Higher Education.
This year, a total number of 423 diploma students of UHL 1412: Foundation English in Gambang campus managed to experience again the joy of reading and freely expressed their ideas and opinions during the reading review discussion. Towards the end of the reading review activity, 49 students were also awarded as the Top Reviewers based on their mature opinions and active participation.
Through the carried out activities, it is hoped that UMP community will develop a lasting interest in reading for a brighter future.
