Students’ Mobility Programme in Hebei, China
Mandarin Language and Culture Centre (MLCC) had organized a Students’ Mobility Programme to Hebei University (HBU), Baoding, China during semester break from 8 Nov 2015 to 14 Nov 2015. A total of 10 students from various faculties had participated in the programme based on their overall academic performance in learning Mandarin.
The objectives of this program were to create opportunities for Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP) students to practice their skill in actual Mandarin speaking situation at China and getting them exposed to China Industry. This programme was conducted successfully and had achieved University objectives as well as KRA 1: Enhancement of Academic Quality,KRA 3:Socio-economic Development and KRA 4: Branding for Strategic Positioning.
The contents of the programme were pact but fruitful, which includedadialog on infrastructure in Hebei University, dialog on working culture in China industry, community service at Hebei school, hands-on experience inexposure to entrepreneurship, Chinese Tea cultural practice, academic visit to Earth Resources & Sciences Museum in mining technology, interactive engineering discussion at Hebei University of Science and Technology, hands-on authentic Mandarin Learning program with international students of Hebei University, and interactive dialogue with international Muslim students and Islamic Friday prayer at Great Mosque in Beijing.
The dean of College of International Education & Exchange (CIEE), Hebei University, Professor Dr. Guo Fuliang, Deputy Director of Office of International Cooperation, Professor Liang Weige and Head of Department of Teaching Chinese as Foreign Language, Mrs Wang Lixia and teachers were present in the welcoming lunch for the programme participants. In addition, Hebei Universityas the main host of the programme had arranged several activities for the participants since that it was the winter season in China.
The programme was led by Ms Yong Ying Mei, a senior language teacher in Centre for Modern Languages and Human Sciences, Universiti Malaysia Pahang.
