Gigvaganza Campfire 2018
KUANTAN (17-18 March 2018) – More than 200 secondary school students from Asrama Semai Bakti FELDA participated in GiGVaganza Campfire held at Asrama Sri Semai Bakti FELDA Kuantan.
The programme which was first initiated by Centre of Modern Languages and Human Sciences (CMLHS) Universiti Malaysia Pahang had prepared and conducted fun games and activities based on English grammar elements with all the participants. Five trainers and 25 facilitators, all of which are language teachers and students from UMP respectively had volunteered to be part of the programme.
All the games and activities organised by the facilitators required the participants from all three hostels of Asrama Semai Bakti FELDA (Kuantan, Kuala Lumpur & Johor Bahru) to solve all the tasks given in a group of five that includes assessing their knowledge and understanding of English grammar besides encouraging them to communicate in English throughout all activities.
The director of the programme, Hajjah Noor Azlinda Zainal Abidin, said that she believes all the participants have enjoyed all the slots of learning grammar in an enjoyable way and have ensured all the activities comply with the objectives set by UMP and FELDA. “We can see cheerful faces of the students from day one and it showed clear indication that they really had enjoyed all the activities and it makes us really satisfied that we have achieved our objectives,” she said.
Puan Hasyira Nadiaa Yugani, Head of Asrama Sri Semai Bakti FELDA Kuantan shared her excitement over the success of the programme and is “completely satisfied & happy with the programme”, she is also very much looking forward to the next Gigvaganza Campfire.
Meanwhile Ms Nik Nur Hidayah Nik Man, official representative of FELDA Education Department said she hopes that “the programme conducted by CMLHS will enhance the ability of the students to conquer English language and significantly improve their grades especially in English subject in the upcoming SPM and PT3 examinations at the end of this year”.
