The Mighty Minds is a group competition consisted of three persons and for this year, there was a total of 18 groups. There were three rounds altogether and the first round was to test the students’ general knowledge using the interactive online application called ‘Kahoot’. The teams were given questions to be answered within the time limits. The top five groups proceeded to the next round.
The second round was the Hands-on Challenge. This round tested their creativity and problem solving skills based on the theme given. They needed to build a model of their own affordable dream house by using the materials provided and each group was given three minutes to explain and present their model to the judge. The top three groups then proceeded to the final round in which the finalists needed to answer 10 general knowledge questions orally. They were given 30 seconds to think for the answer. The winners were determined based on the most correct answers given.
According to Muhammad Danial Mirza Bin Mohamad Najib from Diploma of Chemical Engineering, he was very impressed when his group managed to get to the second round. This is because round one was already very difficult for them. His group managed to score the fifth place in the second round. The winner who was crowned as The Mighty Minds was The Three Stooges, runner-up went to Hiccups and the third place went to Loser.
A prize giving ceremony was held where Miss Fathiah Izzati; the advisor for this event did the honour to give away the cash prizes to all the top five groups. The event was successful and went smoothly and it is hoped that there will be more participants in the future.
