Classic Malay Film Show
Gambang, 17 Julai 2019 - A classic film show was held at UMP library auditorium at Gambang Campus. The classic film chosen for the program was "Hikayat Merong Mahawangsa” and organized by Centre for Modern Languages and Human Sciences (CMLHS). The program advisor, Cik Jamilah Bebe Mohamad (Malay Language Teacher) and also two UKM trainee students, Nurul Sazwani Bt Che Mustaffa and Nurul Syafiqah Bt Mohd Radzi were also involved. This program was joined by 450 Diploma students of Semester 0 session 2019/2020.
The main purpose of this program was to motivate UMP students to learn and recognize Malay language and culture in Malaysia as well as to expose them to classic Malay language vocabulary. In addition, students were also shown Malay history related to the previous Kedah government, which was called as Langkasuka. In short, this program not only highlighted the historical aspects but also Malay cultural aspects which were portrayed in the film.
The program started with a registration of Diploma students and subsequently a one-hour and 45-minute movie screening. After the broadcast session ended, quiz activities were carried out to test their minds. Prize giving sessions to winners and group photographs were held at the end of the program.
Indeed, the program had received a positive response from UMP diploma students and the program is expected to be continued in the future.
